You can receive a reward of up to 50,000 dirhams for finding lost property in Dubai

New regulations have been introduced in Dubai regarding the handling of found items. People who hand in lost property to the relevant authorities can receive a reward of up to 50,000 dirhams.

The Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, has approved a new law regulating procedures for found and abandoned items in the emirate. The aim of the changes is to increase transparency, improve security, and encourage residents to report found items honestly.

Under the new regulations, people who return lost items can receive a certificate of appreciation from the police or a reward worth 10% of the value of the item, but no more than 50,000 dirhams.

Anyone who finds lost property—except for public sector employees—must report it online through the Dubai Police system within 24 hours of finding it. The item must then be delivered to the police station within 48 hours. Failure to comply with these obligations may result in legal consequences.
