Delta pilot arrested before flight from Stockholm to New York for having alcohol in her blood

Just before the scheduled departure of a Delta Air Lines flight from Stockholm Arlanda Airport, one of the pilots was arrested after failing a breathalyzer test. The airline has a zero-tolerance policy for alcohol, and the flight to New York was canceled.

The incident occurred on board flight DL 205 from Stockholm to New York JFK. Before takeoff, Swedish police boarded the aircraft to conduct a routine sobriety check among the crew members.

As it turned out, one person – the female pilot – failed the breathalyzer test. After it was revealed that her blood alcohol level exceeded the legal limit in Sweden of 0.02% (i.e., 0.2 per mille), she was immediately removed from duty and arrested.

Due to the pilot's arrest, Delta Air Lines was forced to cancel the flight. Officially, the carrier cited “operational reasons” as the reason, but information about the incident has already appeared in the media.

The airline emphasized that it has a zero-tolerance policy toward alcohol among its crew members and will cooperate fully with local authorities in the investigation.
