On Sunday, 21 September 2025, we were moments away from a serious plane crash. A Tunisian airline plane was approaching Nice Airport to land on a runway where an easyJet plane was already waiting to take off.
The hair-raising incident took place on Sunday, 21 September at Côte d'Azur Airport in Nice. According to The Aviation Herald, a Tunisian Nouvelair Airbus A320 from Tunis was approaching for landing in the south of France. At the same time, an easyJet aircraft flying to Nantes was preparing for take-off. The pilots of the Tunisian airline were given permission to land on runway 04L. The easyJet Airbus 320 was waiting to take off at the beginning of runway 04R. And this is where the terrifying part of the story begins, because the pilots of the Nouvelair flight from Tunis confused the runways and began their descent onto the runway occupied by the easyJet aircraft.
The available data shows that the Tunisian aircraft only began its second approach 6 seconds after crossing the 50-foot barrier above the runway. The easyJet flight captain confirms that Nouvelair passed them at a height of no more than 3 metres, which means the minimum distance between the aircraft and a very high probability of a crash. The circumstances of the incident are currently under investigation.
