Ryanair with 4 tires burst at Bergamo airport
It sounds like a scene from a disaster movie, but it only ended in fear. Everyone came out of the incident at Bergamo airport safe and sound.
Cracking of four rear tires and serious damage to the runway - this is the balance of today's incident of a Ryanair airline plane at the airport in Bergamo, Italy. Fortunately, there were no injuries.
Yesterday, October 1, at 7:55 a.m., a serious-looking incident occurred at the airport in the Italian city of Bergamo. A Ryanair airline plane with the number FR 846, flying from Barcelona El Prat to Milan-Bergamo, suffered a fracture of the four rear landing gear wheels during landing. This didin't significantly affect the landing process itself, and the landing went successfully and without major disruptions. None of the 161 passengers on board were hurt. They were able to disembark with the assistance of airport services.
Major damage was sustained to the runway. A portion of the pavement about 450 meters long was damaged. This meant huge problems for airport operations. Some flights to Bergamo were diverted to other airports in the area, and at least dozens of departures were delayed or canceled. Efficient operation of the airport wasn't restored until around 6 p.m. The most important thing about the whole incident is that life-threatening consequences for passengers and crew were avoided.
