Restrictions for tourists on Gran Canaria's second highest peak
The local administration on the Spanish island of Gran Canaria has introduced restrictions for tourists who want to climb the island's second highest peak, Roque Nublo. Prior registration will be necessary, and a maximum of 60 people per hour will be allowed to climb the mountain.

The 1,813-metre-high mountain has long struggled with overtourism. In order to protect the unique site and prevent it from being trampled by tourists, the local administration has now imposed restrictions.
From 3 February, access to the summit and the Roque Nublo trail will be limited to 60 people per hour. Before setting off on the trail, tourists will have to register online for a specific time slot. After registration, tourists will receive a special QR code entitling them to enter the trail. Each person can obtain 5 tickets, and the total maximum number of tickets per hour for all tourists is 60.
