Johan Eidhagen, managing director of Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, admitted in an interview with The National newspaper that we will most likely see Wizz Air planes in Syria in the future.
The fall of the regime in Syria is an opportunity to normalise the situation in Syria after many years. The new authorities will seek to rebuild the tourism sector, devastated by years of civil war. The most important step in rebuilding tourism is the restoration of international air traffic at Damascus airport, which has already become a reality. Qatar Airways and Turkish Airways, for example, already fly to the Syrian capital.
It turns out that among those interested in flying to Damascus is also Wizz Air, specifically its company Wizz Air Abu Dhabi. This was admitted by Johan Eidhagen, managing director of Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, in an interview with The National. Wizz Air does not plan to enter Syria in the first place, but the destination seems very attractive to them, so we can expect Wizz Air flights to Damascus in the future - most likely from Abu Dhabi.
