The opening of international tourism has begun in North Korea
After almost five years, tourists will have a chance to visit one of the world's most closed and mysterious countries again - North Korea.
North Korea is reopening to international tourism. The border closure to tourists lasted as long as four years and 11 months, since the Covid-19 pandemic broke out in January 2020. Now tourists will again be able to visit North Korea, albeit on a limited basis at first.

Tourist trips to North Korea possible again
North Korea will officially allow the first tourists into its territory as early as December 2024. To begin with, only to Samjiyon County and the resorts around Mount Paektu. The rest of the country is expected to be opened to travelers in the next few months. We don't yet have details on how international tourist traffic will look like in North Korea in the future, but most likely within 2 years the situation will return to what it was before 2020.
