The Irish airline has introduced a new checked baggage allowance. Passengers can purchase a suitcase with a maximum weight of 23 kg.
This is quite an unexpected addition to the Irish airline's offer. Ryanair has decided to introduce checked baggage with a maximum weight of 23 kilograms to its offer. This is the third checked baggage option at Ryanair, alongside 10 kg and 20 kg checked baggage. The airline is introducing a new type of baggage to its sales system on all routes, and its price is approximately €10 more than the 20 kg checked baggage option.
Who will benefit from the introduction of the new checked baggage option? The offer may not be attractive in terms of price, but it is clearly aimed at passengers for whom a Ryanair flight is one stage of their journey, as they then transfer to one of the traditional airlines. Most airlines in Europe, such as LOT, Turkish Airlines, British Airways, Lufthansa, KLM and Air France, have a standard checked baggage weight of 23 kg. The new option offered by Ryanair will therefore allow passengers to standardise their baggage allowance for the entire journey, including transfers.
