Dubai consistently maintains the cleanliness of its streets and the aesthetics of its residential areas. Now, the city authorities are introducing smart cameras with artificial intelligence support to more effectively punish people who litter public spaces – improper disposal of waste is punishable by a fine of AED 500.
Testing of the new AI cameras has begun on vehicles used for waste collection and transport. This means that the devices will not only monitor static locations, but will also actively patrol the streets, recording people littering in public spaces.
Dubai is famous for its clean streets and tidy neighborhoods, and the new systems are intended to reinforce this image. The cameras are designed to help quickly detect cases of improper waste disposal and enable immediate response by city services.
The authorities remind residents that disposing of waste, furniture, or bulky items in unauthorized places may result in a fine of AED 500. The system is designed to educate residents and tourists while keeping Dubai impeccably clean.
