The new LOT Polish Airlines connection from Gdańsk to Istanbul, announced for January 2026, is facing problems. The route still does not include convenient transfers on a single ticket to destinations in the Turkish Airlines flight schedule.
In June, LOT Polish Airlines announced a new hit connection from Gdańsk to Istanbul. The route is scheduled to start on 14 January and will operate four times a week: on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Flights to Turkey's largest city were to offer not only the possibility of travelling to Istanbul itself, but also a convenient transfer on a single ticket (i.e. you check in your luggage in Gdańsk and do not have to collect it in Istanbul, but only at your final destination) at Istanbul Airport to one of the Turkish carrier's many destinations. Tickets for the Gdańsk-Istanbul connection are already on sale, but passengers are still unable to book flights to further destinations as part of a single combined LOT and Turkish Airlines booking.
Why is this the case? We do not know the exact reasons for this situation. The press office of Gdańsk Airport informed the pasażer.com portal that it is in constant communication with the airlines and is trying to resolve this situation as soon as possible. Let us hope that the problem will be resolved soon and that Gdańsk will gain an intercontinental connection with a convenient transfer and a window to the whole world.
