Japanese airline All Nippon Airways has ended its 10-year partnership with Disney Corporation. As a result, iconic aircraft liveries, such as the R2-D2 motif on the Boeing 787-9, will disappear from the skies.
May the force be with you at this difficult time for fans of the space saga. After 10 years of cooperation, ANA, the Japanese airline based in Tokyo, has ended its partnership with Disney Corporation. This is very bad news not only for all Star Wars fans, but also for aviation enthusiasts and lovers of unusual aircraft designs. With the end of its partnership with Disney, ANA will repaint its Boeing 787-9 aircraft with the famous R2-D2 livery in its standard colours. At the beginning of next year, the same fate awaits the Boeing 777-200 with its C-3PO-inspired livery. The end of the collaboration between Disney and All Nippon Airways marks the end of a magical journey for aircraft themed after Star Wars, one of the most popular film series in cinema history.
