The Turkish National Authority for Information and Communication Technologies has blocked the apps and websites of 13 eSIM card providers, including Airalo and Holafly. This is a major inconvenience for tourists.

The unexpected decision to block eSIM card providers in Turkey has taken tourists by surprise. We have no official statement as to why this has happened – only the decision of the Turkish National Information and Communication Technologies Authority. Cards purchased and activated before your holiday trip are still working, so if you want to use eSIM, you must purchase it before landing in Turkey. For everyone else, the only option is to purchase a local SIM card in Turkey, which is up to four times more expensive than using eSIM from the most popular providers.
The following eSIM service providers have been blocked: Airalo, Holafly, Saily, Nomad and Instabridge. An alternative to using eSIM by purchasing a card in Turkey is to find a lesser-known and unblocked provider or purchase services through a VPN network.
